Ang Hoay Loh, Perak Road

Ang Hoay Loh, is not a new name to the Penangites. I have been to this place countless of times and please allow me to describe them in ONE word - 'SATISFIED'.

This is the place everytime i left with satisfaction as the food that they serve here is undoubtly fantastic. Below are some pictures of my all time favourite, whenever I visit this outlet.

Just in case if you're wondering, this is not the shop that's located at Gurdwara Road. This Ang Hoay Loh is located at Perak Road, in the Peranakan Association itself next to Mondele Couture, just a few houses away from France Taipei.

In terms of pricing, I wouldn't rate this as a cheap place, sometimes pricey depending on what you order but it's definitely worth the price. Enjoy!

Yee Sang Kai Chuk @ Cintra Street

I was introduced by a friend to this particular stall selling porridge, located at Cintra Street, the coffee shop right behind the Rolex Watch shop off Campbell Street. The opening hours for this stall will be at 8.00pm onwards daily.

Anyway, the texture of the porridge that they serve is smooth and very fine. The boiled chicken that they serve is highly recommended to all. I can safely say, the chicken that they serve taste better that the Ipoh 'nga choy kai'.

Just to warn you, the lady who runs the stall is rather cocky and rarely opens her mouth. For orders, you can ONLY speak to the daughter who usually stationed beside the old lady or she will be busy serving in the coffee shop. And oh not to miss, the kopi peng in the coffee shop taste good too, but this comment is not from me as I don't drink coffee. But if you're a fan of coffee, do check it out!

It is located at the Nanking East Road. The varieties of food is simply irresistable!!

Rahman Corner

This little Rahman Corner is located at Tanjung Tokong, the hut right in front of Grand View (next to Bomba). They serve a wide variety of malay style 'chu char' and is frequently patronize by my fellow mates.

They serve very nice kerabu ikan bilis and also kerabu mango ala malay. An affordable place for you to try out!

Nanyang Chinese Cuisine, Armenian Street

This humble restaurant is located at the corner of Armenien Street. If you know Yap Temple, then you should be able to see the restaurant opposite it. The style of the restaurant is a bit of Nonya and a bit of old chinese. Penang style to be exact. :)

They serve various kind of foods which include the Pig Trotters with Vinegar, Three Cups Chicken, Oyster Noodle, Fried Potato Starch Sheet, Xia Men Handroll., etc......

There are a few of our favorite dish which we never fail to order when we go here but of course, we do order new dishes.

Frog Porridge, Dato Keramat

I have heard about this shop and I am a fan of 'chui kae' (frog). So whenever it involves frog I'll be the first to patronize.

Besides frog, they are also specialize in preparing eel dish. So whenever I patronize this shop, frog and eel will definitely be in my order list.

And the porridge that they serve, it's not like plain porridge like any other shop is serving. They also add some taste and the porridge is smooth and silky.

I have heard so much about the porridge they serve in this restaurant. So I decided to make a trip to this restaurant, located at Gurney Plaza for a porridge feast.

The ambience in the restaurant was rather cosy and was quite packed with customers as I was there during dinner time. My intention to this restaurant was to savour the 'famous' porridge as recommended by my friends and to my suprise, they have quite a few selection to choose from. I ordered the porridge with crab roe and my friend and brother ordered a simple version of the porridge from the menu respectively.

I was rather fascinated by the texture of the porridge as it was really smooth and sweet. We get to savour 3 different types of porridge and I have to agree with my friends that it was simply fantastic.

To top it up, we decided to also order some roast duck to compliment the porridge that we were having. The sauce that came together with the roasted duck was rather delicious.

But the downside of this restaurant is that you are also being charged for the items that you did not order and it is a so called compulsory item that will be served to you once you step in to the restaurant. The napkins and the tidbits they served were costly. I wonder if we can reject those 'unordered' items from them?!

Ping Xiang Duck Rice, Juru

I have been a fan of roasted duck but somehow, it is not easy to find a good one in Penang. Anyway, I was introduced to this particular Duck Rice stall, located in the Juru Village (Perkampungan Juru), about 6 months ago by a Japanese colleague of mine, whom have been residing in Penang for the past 5 years.

At first, I was not really impressed by the look of the stall as it was located at a corner courtyard of some housing area. And the surroundings doesn't really inteprete the goodness of the Duck Rice. However, it was love at first bite. I have been a very regular guest to this stall now and I will patronise at least once a week, everytime when I make my visits to Bukit Minyak.

The duck was roasted to perfection and it was crunchy on the outside and the meat was tender in the inside. It is best eaten with the homemade garlic chilli sauce of their own.

The duck rice is VERY reasonably priced and to top it up, you will also be serve a bowl of 'soup of the day' for free!

Ping Xiang Duck Rice stall opens daily except Sunday, and business will usually commence at about 11am and finishes by 1pm. You might want to give them a call to check if there are still roasted duck available, before you travel all the way to Juru. They can be contacted at 012-4564640.

Lok Lok @ Chai Leng Park

Just over the recent weekend, we decided to hit Chai Leng Park for a lok lok feast. The lok lok was actually located at the ever famous 'wai sek kai' at Chai Leng Park.

We were actually quite amazed by the choices of sauce they serve. There were 7 varieties of sauces for you to choose from. From sweet to hot and flaming spicy.

Besides the conventional lok lok whereby you are suppose to have it cooked in the boiling water, they also give you the option to have the items that you selected to be fried. The recommended fried items were the mantis prawn, and of course my favourite grey mushrooms.

An average stick of lok lok is priced at RM 1.50. And trust me, we paid quite an amount for the lok lok feast. But all in all, the items they serve were worth the price we paid and all I can say is I'll definitely be back again very soon!

Passions of Kerala

Looking for a healthy diet? Banana leaf rice is the answer. That was what I told geneoga too. It is a vegetarian diet except that when we went there, we just had to order extra mutton masala, deep fried bitter gourd, and deep fried chicken. Yummy...

We ordered a mango lassi, home made yogurt drink. One healthy drink for a healthy diet.

This restaurant is Passions of Kerala, located at Gelugor. It has another 2 branches, one at New World Park, and another at Service Road.

I was trying to Flog using my Nokia 5800 but face some problem to insert and edit the content of this post. There are more photos. I will update when I transfer the photos to my PC.

As I am starting on my very first post, I am actually not eating. I am playing with my guy's nipples and having a good laugh about it....

Okay. Let get to the point. I have great interest in food and traveling. If you have the chance to take a good look at me, you'll know why. :) (ps: I'm not typing this post)

Randomly, an idea of having a food blog (Flog) pops up out of no where. I get this idea from other floggers. I find that mostly, what they flog about is overly commercialize. Therefore, on this flog, I will try to bring you to food which can be found even at some hidden lorong somewhere in Taman Negara. (ps: I am still not typing this post)

Until I start typing my truly first post, happy food hunting.
